Recently setup SA with HA for my test Growatt inverter. Today something very cool worked. I already had Home Assistant integrated with OpenWeatherMap and Solar Assistant. Yesterday I setup an automation with an OpenWeather Trigger to have Solar Assistant change the Growatt to Utility Priority...
Had to replace my well pump at my cabin and went with Grundfos SQ so it will easily start with inverter and/or generator without having a massive system. Buy once/Cry once.
Old 1/2 HP Franklin was 34a (8100w) inrush and 7a run. Duromax 10k was only generator that could start this thing.
New...
Solar Assistant is awesome and integrates well with HomeAssistant. Can not only get battery and inverter metrics in Home Assistant but can build automation in HA to change inverter configuration through Solar Assistant. Example: have HA integrated with Open Weather, if there is a storm coming...
@SignatureSolarJames , one thing I’d like to see is the unit powering a critical loads panel AND sending excess PV back to main panel but not allowing anything to flow past the CTs at meter. I can’t sell back in my location and would like to confirm that if batteries are full, PV can power...
Last night/this morning was the first true test of my Senville 24k heating our cabin (monitoring remotely). It's installed on our main level which also has a loft, total main/loft level size is 1050sqft. I had the 6 electric baseboards set to 50F (backup) and the mini-split set to 67F. Got...
I struggled with the same well pump issue with high surge at my cabin. I took a different approach where I changed the pump (out of need) to a Grundfos SQ soft starting pump. This allowed me to 1)have a new pump 2)require a much smaller generator to start it in full outage situation and...
I’ve built batteries for both my primary residence and cabin. Enjoyed it and liked the digging into how all this works together. For long term I think buying a battery would be easier, specifically if something happened to me. Family understands a good amount and I have documented everything but...
Look at the well documented hours upon hours of issues @Adam De Lay had with his cheap EG4 crap products. Since the switch to Victron, seems everything works fantastic. I’d much rather spend $10k and everything just work and not worry about leaving it unattended as well as the circuits it’s...
Well an update on this topic of mini split heating specifically. If you really dig into the Senville Aura 24kbtu (their version of -22° hyper heat) @17°F they only put out 15k BTU of heat. Compare this to Cooper and Hunter 24k btu Hyper Heat -22°F unit which puts out 23.5k btu @ 17° and 23k btu...
I’m here to simply learn and grow my understanding of solar, not the toxic BS fighting rants of this individual. He is truly diluting the value of the forum. Also don’t F with my boy @sunshine_eggo who has really helped me wrap my head around DIY Solar.
There is no long term support for these cheap Chinese inverters. In less than two years it’s been Growatt->MPP->EG4->Lux and us consumers get caught up in this crap. The resellers and manufacturers are loving making these disposable products same as any other type of products we buy.
Save up...
I did a DIY install. Followed steps from AC Service Tech and bought many of the recommend tools, some I had. Bought a valve core remover, micron meter, nitrogen tank and regulator, harbor freight 2 stage vacuum pump, blue bubble leak checker, HVAC manifold, etc. I will be installing another...
For only a small bit more cost, buy a nitrogen tank local and cheap regulator off of Amazon. This will allow you to check for pressurized leaks before you pull a vacuum. I took the extra step and bought a micron gauge for the vacuum.
@FilterGuy Retest complete. When I simply flip the breaker on the AC Input circuit, the load stays the same, on the neutral only. No volts or amps on ground like in my previous test which is good and this will be my hardwire scenario anyway. When I trip the GFCI on the same circuit, the...
I’ve thought about DIY vs buy for a while now. Have built several 48v packs at this point more out of the coolness factor, yes I can do it, save some money, and have granular control.
What I didn’t take into account is my wife and her comfort with checking/fixing/replacing in the event I’m...
The power company that supplies my Cabin in TN provides detailed stats of consumption down to the minute online. Neighbor tried a grid tie one weekend. Power company and sherif was there in about 30 minutes from when neighbor fired up the inverter. They made him disconnect and gave him a hefty fine.
Outside of the initial showing, including @Will Prowse, hasn’t been much detail. Would expect that for an inverter so active on this forum pre-launch there would be more info.
Disagree with this statement. In my area if you get an interconnect agreement you MUST conform to sell all/buy all. So anything I generate is first sold to utility at $0.01 and then I buy for $0.14 vs non interconnect rate of $0.15.
