  • Post in thread: Connecting Sol-Ark 15K directly to utility meter.

When I replaced my main panel, I pulled a main panel changeout permit (over the counter, easy peasy 5 minutes max) set up a day for both PG&E and inspector to come out, drop power in the morning-give me a couple of hours to swap out panel then inspector came back, slapped a sticker on panel (with...

  • Post in thread: Show Me Pics of your 18kPv or 6kXP set ups

I have a Meanwell 20 amp 5 volt power supply directly off main busbars supplying an old router on DRT and 2 Raspberry's running Solar-assistant and Node Red. Have a mini inverter above the 18Kpv (750 watt) spinning a small recirc pump recirculating water thru an electric tankless and then thru...
  • Post in thread: Failed Inspection - need some advice and guidance for NEC 690 infractions.

looks like conduit missing from pv disconnect to eg4 inverter, also what does the back side of your array look like? are conductors readily accessible and not guarded? less than 8 ft above grade is considered readily accessible-I have heard a fence counts as making a ground mount array not...

  • Post in thread: Mismatched Solar Panels for Van Build

Given you are using the same brand of panels with same Voc with double or 1/2 the amperage rating indicates that it is likely these are all built from the SAME cells or at least very similar so, that series/parallel arrangement you are using is probably identical to the series parallel...
  • Post in thread: EG4 18kPV 12lv can't be used in Cali as of aug 28 2023

this is a 12 kw pv system (30 x 400W QPEAK arranged in 3 arrays) 28Kwh of Battery (2 Powerpro) and one 18Kpv which has been running offgrid for the last 3 weeks without a hiccup. Did need to switch back to grid for the morning after 2 cloudy days to charge the chevy Bolt, but other than that...

I've been trying to connect my 18kPV and 2 Powerpro batteries to PG&E for the last 3 months and have finally have a straight answer as to the problem. it is lacking certification for: UL1741 SB certified inverters and Common Smart Inverter Profile Conformance (CSIP) Now I'm stuck guys, Is the...
  • Post in thread: Replacement solar panel

It kind of depends what is connected to your panel. are you running a series connected array or parallel, are you connected to a 600 V max inverter or 200 V max system or is this on a charge controller by itself?
  • Post in thread: EMT conduit question for multiple strings

Warning!! i used the PV cable from Signature Solar and it was larger in diameter than standard PV wire (if there is such a thing!) and 6 plus ground would not physically fit let alone pull into a 1"EMT. luckily my 1st pull box in attic was only 6" into attic which allowed me to drop back to #10...

  • Post in thread: Complete guide for 48V using EG4 18k

This is what my system does- one 18kPV inverter, 2 powerpro batteries, whole house just like Filterguy but I have no PV disconnects, just a remote RSD switch by the main panel and next to the PG&E meter approx 70 ft away from my inverter/battery room and i just received my final inspection...

Little did I know... Latest in the saga with PG&E. i screwed up the first application (applied in wrong category) so they kept my money and cancelled my application. I reapplied with same drawings documents and now they demand the following: CRD-PCS Capability – Battery inverter must be...

  • Post in thread: EG4 18kPV 12lv can't be used in Cali as of aug 28 2023

I have found that PG&E has their own list of equipment/requirements and the CEC list is the minimum. The only way to see the PG&E list is during the application process. The 18kpv is now on the PG&E list of inverters for grid tied without a battery? (maybe < 10 KWh battery size i think) but...
  • Post in thread: EG4 18kPV 12lv can't be used in Cali as of aug 28 2023

I have once or twice a month a 18hr pottery kiln cycle that burns thru about 80 kwh per kiln run so I would really like to have a little grid storage to cover that, So Marcus-any word on that CSIP yet?
  • Post in thread: Eg4 install question.

Um, 8s2p is 16 panels, he has 10. whats wrong with 10s1p? 586v at -30F, dont know your lowest ASHRE temp tho? also 10s1p will start producing a little earlier in the morning, save wire and save your MPPT's (assuming you have further plans?)max Vmp at 410v well under eg4 mppt max of 500...
  • Post in thread: Complete guide for 48V using EG4 18k

Hey Filter Guy, Not to hijack the thread, But have you you ever received approval in Los Gatos for an on grid system with eg4 ii or life power batteries?. This is the exact system I'm looking at down here in Los Osos and didn't think the county would approve a non CEC listed battery
  • Post in thread: Rapid Shutdown (RSD) on the EG4 18Kpv

That sounds like a great way to power the Tigo CCA but my 18kpv doesn't put out ANY voltage on the 12+ and 12- lines. Is there something I have to turn on to make this happen?
