I have a IQ7X powered off my 60 volt battery bank to take out my base load that doesn't go through my hybrid inverter. It flashes orange (orange means AC good but not connected to Envoy). It makes a constant 312 watts.
Edit....this works on the bench but once connected to whole system and am...
Here is our Pergola but same design could be used as a carport. It is 24 panels. Where are you from because snow load could be a big part of your design. We are in lower Michigan. It is mostly made out of 2x10's and headers 2x12's with 6x6 posts. I do think it is around 24x20 feet....
With...
The disconnect ($25) and reconnection($20) fee's are extremely small, so just disconnect and when you might need it reconnect say in winter for a couple months. They can connect you over the phone in most cases.
I know in Michigan they are trying to get passed a $60 a month fee to people with...
I have done 2 Geo houses myself in lower Michigan. First one's field was a horizontal loop of 5000 ft of pex four feet deep. Had 2 units, one was water to water and other a standard forced air geo unit. The house also had heated floors so could be heated by geo or natural gas water heater...
Dimmers with Leds are a hard combo to get to work. We have a lot of led's with Lutron (like 50 switches) and only can detect flickering when dimmed very low on inverter. We have had multiple circuits that met all of Lutron's specs but it wouldn't light the led's, if I added a extra load of a...
If you cost out batteries verse water for solar for added storage, batteries are now cheaper if you already have an inverter/charger. The cost of an extra water tank is like $1000 and if I remember a 50 gallon tank only holds 6kwh of energy. Adding to a battery bank is cheaper. My numbers...
I have heated my house with domestic hot water heaters for 20 years and I noticed the snot in the bottom of the water heaters came when they switched from chlorine to chloramine at the water treatment plants.
I recently switched to house that has a well and came across data that showed...
Did you read the Moderna 40,000 person 6 months study? It showed no effect on the death rate, but did stop people from feeling the symptoms and instead turned them into super spreaders in my opinion.
I am really enjoying my Victron BMV-700 series. It is blue tooth so can monitor through phone and seems extremely accurate. Is bi directional and keeps state of charge at all times. Has history about amount of power used and amount needed to charge.
I have IQ7's with a Outback GS4048 hybrid inverter. It works great with enphase. When the power goes out I have a critical loads panel that is used on my most needed stuff. The solar runs the house without the grid being up and solar also charges the batteries. The GS4048 also has a...
I had to read much of the NEC book for a project awhile back and I recall it states in residential you can't use multiple conductors to carry current but you can in industrial applications. But do what you want. I wouldn't do it myself because it will look likely shobby work and the fact that...
Fyi, kenz...the terminal on these batteries are not centered from the end and the sides. IE. the terminals are not the same distance from the side as they are from the end. The buss bars only work with the cells side by side. If the batteries are placed inline the bus bar is not long enough...
Yes, you can do what you are saying. I have put a cord end on it and just plugged it into a 240 outlet. Not really to code but call it portable and not sure what they can do, really you can just unplug it, much like people that plug their generators into the wall and backfeed. The IQ series...
After a lot of research I choose the Outback Radian GS4048 which Sol-Ark leaves off their charts. The GS4048 allows for backup with micro inverters and throttling them back after you do the firmware upgrade.
Cost is $2,000 and per Kw it is 50 cents....The Sol-Ark is 73 cents per Kw.
I am sure you are going to have to add in snow load which is likely over 150 pounds per square foot.... so 10 * 13 = 13 * 150 lbs = 1950 lbs of load.
In Montana I see snow loads above 400 lbs in areas....
But I am sure this is under the radar and you are going to want to keep it clear of snow...
Well everyday we are getting closer to it.....
My wife and I are thinkers...what do we need to do to have power after an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) that fries electronics. We are fine now if we lost the grid forever.
My biggest worry is my hybrid inverter and needing it the most of...
I think you would be ok in parallel but series is not a good option.
In series the smaller battery will drain first and then go under voltage and fail.
You might be able find a BMS that could shut the whole thing down if one of the cells(battery in this case) drops to low. Not sure if this...
I actually like his( @justinjja ) thought process and it is getting us all to think about what we are dealing with and how to minimize the potential of a fire. Actually water isn't very conductive my itself and most batteries are under 60 volts which is safe to touch. Water with salts in it...
Bad advice.....might get lucky and work with a BMS all wired up, but likely not and without a BMS there is a good chance one cell will go over voltage and expand.
Also don't target 3.65 for balance voltage. 3.55 is the highest I will go, 3.65 is to close to the point of expanding the cells...
Arrays most of the time don't produce full output, especially stationary ones. You also have to remember the panel output will reduce every year due to degradation and you have dust and heat that lower output. The max rating is only under ideal conditions that you might hit once or twice a...
