-15C and sunshine with no wind at all. Installation is quite easy with excavator, but some adjustment still needs to be done for the frame design. 8,4kW nominal installed so 19% done already. Only 17 sets to go...?

DIY everything to keep costs down. 63 x Bluesun 700W Bifacials in 21 sets each having 2,1/1,5kWp, total 44,1/31,5kWp front/back. The whole idea was to avoid shadows on either side with vertical installation to maximize winter production and keep snow off. This was my first take on solar and...

F yeah, they are all in the field now. 21 sets of 2,1kW, so 44,1kW. Back side 21x1,5kW=31,5kW Miniature solar panels.

I am more concerned about high winds, but you can be right. Time will tell. I have done some precautions for ground heave force by hammering (not digging) those poles all the way to 2m deep + some insulation around the poles. Ground frost can be like 1m here, but not on the wheatfield like this...

Nice! I'm over halfway with my panel installation. 25,2kW or 57% is now ready. I'm somewhat happy, but there's still awful lot to be done. Nine more to fabricate.

Now I have full array working and Deyes charging batteries. Everything is a mess and there's a lot of fine tuning to be done, but it is working now and I'm still alive, barely.

Full moon and 3W of production from 1/4 array. Maybe nothing new for you guys, but for me it is.

Picked up my 50kVA genny today. It's 4 cyl (~4,5L) DI diesel (1500rpm) from 1967 weighting 2000kg. It's missing radiator and fan, but I'm quite sure I can find something from local truck salvage yard. Got also 1500L fuel tank and electric operating cabinet. All for 1400e.

My 44kW bifacial ground mount grid tie setup with 75kWh new lifepo batteries (15kWh wall batteries, 60kWh rack batteries,) is just over 50ke (~54k$) without any tax credits or anything like that. That price includes everything I can think of. And this is my first build, so I bet I could do it...

Got all time best today with 340kWh. Lost something like 15-20kWh because last 2,5 hours were cloudy and there was also 2 hours of clipping in the middle of the day. Fresh snow on the ground and -10C. Day is also almost 14 hours long already.

New to the forum, new to the solar energy. Have 63 Bluesun bifacial 700W N-type shingled panels, 22 old electric poles, shit load of underground cable, 51 x 6m 40x40x3mm marine grade aluminium, 2 Bluesun 15kW on-grid inverters, 2 Deye 15/12kW hybrid inverters, 30kW lead acid battery and 4 x 5kW...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Found my problem today. My Bluesun inverters were connected to main panel neutral, but Deyes wasn't. One wire was missing from the cabinet. Now everything seems to work as predicted, but still need to learn how to configure TOU settings. We have over 19 hours daylight ATM and field is green...

IT'S ALIVE!!! Well, half of it anyway... Had the inspection today and it seems I don't have bidirectional metering. They will change my meter as soon as they can, maybe next week. But then he said there's no harm if I turn my system on to test it. I asked how long should I test it and he said...

    0:30am last night. Production 4W.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Got 77kWh today so reached my yearly target of 40MWh.
  • Post in thread: Solar has been hijacked/co opted. A wakeup?

I started fiddling with solar because of money, with absolutely no idea what I was doing. I mean none. Got straight to the deep end with 44kWp vertical "no shadows" setup with 2x hybrid inverters plus 2x AC coupled GT inverters and ~110kWh LFP/FLA batts + 2x UPSs. I DIYed and ordered everything...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Total production for first year is 44,6MWh. Crappy weather for last two months. It did outperform PVWatts yearly prediction so can't be sad.
  • Post in thread: Post your Ground Mount Setup

Only half year experience so far, so long way to go for final verdict. Mid-summer (25C) max yield for ~11kWp string is usually 8,5-9kW (without any cloud lensing effect) and 70kWh daily. Spring sun with snow on the ground got my Deyes to clip (12kW limit then, now with software upgrade should...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

What the hell... I can't believe that my panels are delivering 8kW in weather like this. I mean everything is white, but still.
  • Post in thread: Got our first DIY 3.5KW Rotating Bi-facial 7-Panel Ground Mount in the ground (only six more to go)

Awesome build you got there! That has to be hard and very expensive to do in such a remote location. I hope you all the best with your project!!! I live 62 degree north here in Finland so winter production is my main concern and focus. At summer we have plenty of sun available. So I got 44,1kWp...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Blizzard today. 1/4 production of my array, so from 44kWp there's ~10kW production in this weather. Not bad.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Golden hour. Production steps up for the last two-three hours after being low for three hours due to bad panel angle. Panels would only need a really tiny movement to make huge increase in evening time production. Hmmm...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

240kWh yesterday, 260kWh today and it's going to be the first day of the year with no purchased electricity. Day is almost 11 hours long already and getting longer fast.
  • Post in thread: Has anyone mounted panels at 90deg inclination (vertical)?

    Yes.
  • Post in thread: What's the best solar-related item you bought in 2023?

I got my whole setup working in spring 2023, so I'd say best solar-related "item" I got was education. Didn't know anything about solar and very little about electricity in general. Still long way to go though. Can't say it has been free, but my ROI seems to be around 5 years, so hopefully...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

144kWh today. Maybe something like 10kWh missing from a perfect day. Over 0,25MWh this month already and reasonably sunny forecast over next few days. Braking 40MWh target before Tuesday?
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Going slowly forward with solar corner installations. Main electric panel is about 70m from here so this only half of the work needed. Plus the solar array needs a lot of wiring too and some of it is 5m high. It's -20C outside, so working inside... Scrapyard busbars ~10m (alu 80x10mm) 40e.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Here's the busbar setup. Here's few photos of the panel array. I think the backside is actually polycrystalline as it is clearly bluish in color. Don't know if it's just cheaper to manufacture or if there's an actual reason for it. Still need to ground everything when I get the time. Frontside.

In here we always celebrate Christmas 24th December. I think it has to be so because of logistics as this way Santa has two days instead of just one to deliver all those presents. So Merry Christmas to Everyone!!!
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

108kWh today. It is slowly getting better. Last year, in the beginning of April daily yield was close to 340kWh, so a month or two and production should be quite nice again. 0,75MWh already this month. Nothing spectacular, but compered to Nov, Dec, it is already almost twice that and 20 days...
