    Still snowing...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

62 north. Antlerhead is 63 north. That's why he has antlers and I don't.

Attached some 18mm plywood to drywall so now it is ready for taking inverters/batteries. This is just an old horse stable, so I'm not after perfect look. Lead acid battery is already there and 3x5kWh LFPs are wall mounts. At first both battery chemistries have their own Deye, but when my order...

Like antlerhead said, things will decline rapidly from now on, so have to wait and see. I know I have so many things wrong upstairs, but I never expected I'll be waiting snow in August. This whole solar thing hasn't been easy on me...

Did not, but do now. When enabled on both, voltage seemed to oscillate, so now only one enabled. Still high voltage readings on ph 2 occasionally. Checked all connections with IR gun and they seem to be fine. I think two hybrids and two GTs all working parallel without any shared info is just...
  • Post in thread: Are bi-facials supposed to be flimsy and flex like a fun-house mirror?

    Easy to break flimsy bifacial.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

My friend has 100kW installed in his shop roof. Here's March yield from his set. Notice yield on 27th and 28th. Mine did 80+110=190kWh on those two days.

Guess what I have been doing...:devilish:
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Total cost is around 1,25e/W with 44,1kWp and 118kWh of batteries, no tax reduction or anything like that. I guess 5 years if energy rates stay high. ATM I can't sell overproduction to grid as my utility company hasn't installed bidirectional meter for me yet. Actually I can sell, but I just...
  • Post in thread: Moving around large solar panels

Easy way to move 700W Bluesuns three at same time. Just needs 15ton excavator... Well, if you have -35C or below and fresh snow down there in summer, they make over 900W.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Damn that's a lot. I'm not even sure if we have that many days in our calendar up here. 192kWh today. Maybe 5-10kWh missing because of clouds. It is getting better every day now and fast.
  • Post in thread: Parallel function of 2x50kW hybrid triple-phase Deye inverters without data comms

I will. I haven't enabled them to work during outages just because I was a little afraid about magic smoke. Luckily outages are so rare here that I can even keep them as they now are and benefit their load sharing only, but I bet I can figure out something to get around this. Maybe I just ditch...

You know what they say about big arrays? Big array, small ........... electric bill.;) Connected AC coupling today and it seems to work now. Used two ATSs in manual mode so I can switch back to how it was if needed for some reason. Maybe now I can finally tidy up the place.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Made another roundtrip from 5% (~3,05V) to full (~3,5V) and back to 5% with my LFPs and got 82,6kWh in and 80,6kWh out. These batteries should be nominally only 76,8kWh. Got 3 x 5,12kWh wall mounts and 6 x 10,24kWh rack batteries so far. Reship informed my Battery Bank Management System ver.2...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

10,8MWh already, which is over 1/4 of what PVWatts predicted for the whole year. This took 1,5 months to do.
  • Post in thread: How to make LifePo4 "safer" ?

They do say that white smoke coming from LFP cell is toxic/highly toxic, but then what smoke isn't? Smoke detector operated fan ventilating outside might be cure for that. For punctures, just don't allow any crowbars in the same room with your batteries... THIS.

You can't find SISU here anymore... Unless you watch just released (Hollywood) movie SISU. Here's a trailer: Maybe a bit too thick for my taste.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Nothing stupid with your question. There are two reasons that I can think of. First is snow as we can have more than 1m snow maybe once in a decade. I really don't want to clear snow around my panels as I have to do that with my 1ha (~2,5acres) yard already. Secondly studies show that backside...
  • Post in thread: Bifacial solar panels - Can I install them on a regular roof?

Well that and my anti-gravity driving license... :)
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Got my batteries (6x10kWh) today. Assembled the rack that came without any instructions and was missing bolts. Cheap and Chinese... No busbars with the rack, but I think it's pretty easy to make custom ones with the leftover materials from my previous busbar fabrication. Rack looks skinny and...
  • Post in thread: My build thread

That's double what new panels cost here now. I haven't seen panels this cheap here before though. Maybe because winter is coming and solar business is getting really slow. I'm going to put 26 x 550W tier1 half cell monofacials on my barn roof (perpendicular to my current array). Postage not...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Thanks. I have been sick for almost the whole week now and I don't get any sick leave unless my head gets detached from my body, so I have been resting and solar installation is on hold at the moment. In here it's very easy to get good rates, when you just don't buy things from here... I...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

All my growing is horizontal nowadays and it's not my shoulders anymore... Oh, and this just happens to be some 200m from my array. Coinsidence?
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Now I have four units ready for installation, so only seventeen to go... These aren't going to be 100% vertical as those 4 "arms" on each unit have different angles up/down. This means they are going to be 5-10 degree shy from fully vertical installation. Vertical enough that snow can't...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

Two set glued today and two sets ready for glueing tomorrow. First panel pallet used already, so needed to get the second one in. Driving forklift on crystal clear ice with water on top while carrying 1300kg and 3m tall pallet containing glass was scary as hell...
  • Post in thread: SolArk15k vs Eg4 18k

I am surprised of this here. Not the fact that your inverter is mounted low/outside/Alaska. That has to be a major waste of energy to melt that much snow and keep the grass green all year round. I mean I live 62 degree North here in Finland and we have -35C days in the winter, but my tall...
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

That and didn't run into a single polar bear. A perfect day.
  • Post in thread: My 44kW vertical and bifacial set in Finland.

So far I'm happy with my vertical installation, but I think the key points for success are 1. bifacial panels 2. loose installation high up from the ground 3. being so high up in the north (=low sun angle). Not sure how meaningful it is to have shingled cell panels as they are supposed to be...
  • Post in thread: who is still burning wood in april?

Should be snowing later this week again so still using ground source heating and ~3000kg heat preserving fireplace.
  • Post in thread: Design for "ultimate" "fire-proof" 274kWh+ battery shed

You can use fireproof sleeves over your cables if this is your main concern. And has insulation to prevent shorting.
