  • Post in thread: Is anyone making server rack enclosures for the 280Ah cells?

This is how I did mine, not server rack but had custom metal rack made for a cabinet from Lowe’s. Then used 5/16” aluminum plates for lite compression.
  • Post in thread: Pros/Cons to 2-Sol-Ark 8K's vs. 1-Sol-Ark 15K

I have two Sol-Ark12K’s in parallel. The downside is the cost but the upside is you still have one inverter if one goes down. The same principle applies to my battery pack. I have a 16S4P battery set up. If I have issues with one pack I can dismantle and work on that pack while my three...
  • Post in thread: Is Sol-Ark still sending data to China?

While being mindful of China, we all should be more on guard with our current overbearing federal system. Also, state and local governments. All three, especially with the state of our country currently, will be a bigger threat to your way of life than China. So keeping our inverter data off...
  • Post in thread: Terrible Signature Solar / EG4 18Kpv Experience - Returning and Replaced with Sol-Ark 15k

As an observer, a very interested consumer and someone who’s searching for another inverter for a future, smaller project, this how I see it. I don’t care if it’s a B to B sell or a guy that barely has two nickels to rub together, buying the product. It either works as described or it doesn’t...
  • Post in thread: Solar assistant: do you use it?

Yes. I prefer it over the PV Pro app Sol-Ark offers. Vote cast ?
  • Post in thread: Best way to compress cells in packs

In doing my 16s4p setup, I ended up using 5/16” aluminum plating with 1/4” rods between every pack of four, 10-rods per 16s. (See photos) I used rubber matting in the inside of the aluminum where the cells contact. Originally was using rubber matting between each cell, but that was to thick for...
  • Post in thread: Is Sol-Ark still sending data to China?

This is very true and I agree whole heartedly. That was one of the reasons I referenced Will’s video on YouTube, China versus America. Americans have gotten fat, lazy and we no longer produce anything here. We are way too dependent upon China for things that we need including medication’s, not...
  • Post in thread: EVE-280 cells should these be clamped tight or spaced for expansion?

Same here basically. However I did tighten my “plates” at about 80% SOC to about 8-in lbs. I have rubber mat inside between the aluminum plates and batteries w/ plastic mat separators between each cell. Operating parameters between 90% and 20%.
  • Post in thread: Terrible Signature Solar / EG4 18Kpv Experience - Returning and Replaced with Sol-Ark 15k

Well, I guess that could be partially my fault for asking a question that asked earlier…. However, when some of these threads do get off topic, as a solar novice, not an electrically savvy person, I can read and learn some good information that I would have not known otherwise. My only...
  • Post in thread: New to solar, just bought 71 kWh of batteries for DIY some help please :)

Too late if you’ve already purchased the batteries. I would HIGHLY recommend reading, researching what you’re about to get into BEFORE buying anything!! I was brand new here 3 hrs ago, didn’t know a thing about any of this!! Take it from me, read, research multiple ways of doing anything before...
  • Post in thread: Is anyone making server rack enclosures for the 280Ah cells?

So here are my photos of the system completed but idle. Added the breakers but system as I mentioned earlier not hooked up to Sol-Ark yet. When I actually get this up and running I need to revisit your disconnect strategy and localized monitoring setup.
  • Post in thread: What are you doing to save energy?

We built new so we had the advantage to plan this out. 2x6 exterior walls with spray foam insulation. Encapsulated our crawl space which regulates temperature and humidity. However dehumidifier does use energy but it is on a timer to operate 9am to 5pm when PV is likely. Crawl space stays...
  • Post in thread: We Live to Fight Another Day. May the odds be ever in your favor.

I'm glad I'm not the only one here that watches Ben's YT channel (and others) to keep an eye on the suns activity. I really enjoy Ben's channel. I'm amazed at the people that have no idea what could happen and have that "look" when I talk about CME's.
  • Post in thread: Is Sol-Ark still sending data to China?

Another good example of what I said earlier. Our federal overlords, political elite, are a bigger threat to our way of life currently than anyone else!! They say one thing and do the opposite! Get rid of oil for solar and wind, but give away the resources that could’ve been mutually beneficial...
  • Post in thread: EVE-280 cells should these be clamped tight or spaced for expansion?

I’ve read a lot of posts/threads about compression. So many ideas and different ways to do it. I ended up using 5/16” aluminum plates with .20” hard rubber matting between plates/cells to give them a “firm” cushion when they expand and rebound when they contract. I used 1/4” threaded rods, 10...
  • Post in thread: Recommend me a class T fuse holder for a 400a class T fuse plz

I used the blue sea class T fuse block. Like this...
  • Post in thread: Is Sol-Ark still sending data to China?

I think you’re correct, there’s no need to invade the US. They’re just going to work with the BRICS countries to put an end to the Petro-Dollar and the US dollar as the worlds default currency. Buying and selling oil in currencies other than the USD. The US treasuries aren’t performing well and...
  • Post in thread: Anybody had their packs long enough yet?

Being off grid, I’m mindful of my usage. I could use my batteries maybe a little more, but we’re living comfortably at current usage levels. We built to our place energy efficient and bought the most efficient appliances we could. I personally do not want to draw my battery down to 20 or 30%...
  • Post in thread: Terrible Signature Solar / EG4 18Kpv Experience - Returning and Replaced with Sol-Ark 15k

Thank you for the reply and info. I’ve been curious about the follow up on that second video and when it might get posted. I have watched a ton of your videos and you’ve taught this old dog some new tricks. ? I’m familiar with Dexter, seen some of his YT as well. I’ve had my dual 12-K’s since...
  • Post in thread: Sol-ark + batrium canbus integration workaround until its supported

In another Sol-Ark related thread, @coolwaterxii asked me to share my experience so far with getting the Batrium to communicate with my Sol-Ark. so I responded to @coolwaterxii to come to this thread and I would answer his questions and share some of my experience so far. Photos below. System is...
  • Post in thread: New notification behavior WTF????

Yes. I was like WTF are all of these notifications on threads IM NOT FOLLOWING! Lol Thought it was just me!! After opening this thread, I see this under similar threads. Lol. https://diysolarforum.com/threads/new-features.68266/#post-862445
  • Post in thread: Help with 128 batteries each one is 280ah, and want to configure for 48v system.

I tend to agree on the point of monitoring each cell level. But yes, Batriums’ are expensive. However, I’ve been looking at cell monitors that just monitor cells, not “BMS”. This way I can monitor each cell and see what each one is doing. However, I’ve only seen a couple so far. They typically...
  • Post in thread: Filterguys big announcement

Congratulations! I’m looking forward to hearing how things go. You were a huge help to me when I first started my solar journey and joined this forum!!! Best of luck and keep posting what you’re able!!
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark Inverters 8 and 12K

@solardad Thanks for sending the screenshot and your actual Settings, that helps!! As for the battery layout, the advantage to me for doing a dual 2p16s layout is the fact that if something happened to one bank you still have another 48 V bank to operate with. So it made me think about if I...
  • Post in thread: Help with 128 batteries each one is 280ah, and want to configure for 48v system.

I used McMaster-Carr for the copper 101 bar for bus bars. Very please with that company customer service and very fast shipping! Check them out if you need anything, they carry many products. I learned about them from you tuber David POZ. I used Midwest metals for the 6061 5/16” aluminum...
  • Post in thread: Do these cells look too swollen?

I originally planned and mounted my batteries in this orientation like yours. However, after seeing the attached below, I changed my orientation. No matter what the supplier says, I’d rather be safe than find out the hard way it’s not and have issues!
  • Post in thread: New SolArk 12K, X2, issues/glitches..

Yes. Old settings basically the same. I screenshot all screens before the swap. However, gen charge is now on grid input, recommend by SA in an off grid setup. Replaced because I had early models with “green” boards as I was told. Certain small electric items (hand held router, electric...
  • Post in thread: T-class fuse used in Will's updated current workshop system with the PowerPro batteries and the Serer Rack

I used the Blue Sea T-Class fuse block holder. I used Bussmsn Class T fuses. https://www.bluesea.com/products/5502/Class_T_Fuse_Block_with_Insulating_Cover_-_225_to_400A Search for Copper Bussman class T fuses. They are quality products.
  • Post in thread: batteries for Sol-Ark 15KW

I have dual Sol-Ark 12K’s in parallel. I am using 304 amp hour, CATL, LiFePo4 prismatic cells as my battery. I have 16 batteries in series, I have four sets in parallel, for a total of 63 kWh. (16S4P) Sol-Ark willl charge and discharge (open loop) those batteries without any BMS present...
  • Post in thread: Mystery used Sol-Ark 12K Full Failure (Fixed itself)

A factory reset will reset KWh to 0. If you know the passcode.
