24v>12v Converter 40amp & 25amp fuse okay?

Building a 24v solar system with a 40amp 24v - 12v regulator/converter to power a 12v fridge, 12v lights, maxxair fan, and water pump.

Is a 40amp regulator/converter with a 25amp fuse okay? Or would it be better to have a higher amp fuse closer to 40amps?

Fuse according to the wire size rating or less is fine, never fuse higher than the wire is rated for

But if I put a 25amp fuse on a 40amp converter will it lessen the converters amps? Or that is not how it works? Is it okay to use a 40amp fuse? Or is less better?
