30kWh Envision Import & DIY

Good spot! I put foam both sides because they over-supplied the eva for between the cells. I liked the idea of extra insulation against the lid, not that it is anywhere near it.
The lid has the black (paper like) plastic sheet for isolation :)
But this will give a bit extra support to the lid, and if you have extra... Nice one !

How do you rate the cells..?
I suggest you check all cells even if you are not using them yet - I had 1 with an off-centre welded stud. I have contacted Nkon about it.

I'm not going to top balance, going to rely on the 2A active balancer to sort them out ?

Suggestion...
Charge and keep the cells to and at 3.47v for 24 hours..
You'll be good..

Cells now charged and active balanced... then left to idle for a while settling around ~3.48V. They are within 20mv of each other. Discharge test @100A settles to about 9mv difference and a voltage drop to 3.27V.

Still waiting for nkon to sort the one faulty cell.

Had quite some trouble getting them to talk to the Solis inverter over CAN. I used the recommended AoBo battery on the inverter with SoFar on the BMS. I must have tried is 20 times, and then all of a sudden it started working. I have no idea why or what I did differently!

Before with my pace BMS I was using the PylontoMQTT project to get data out of the batteries.

Does anyone know of something similar that works with the Seplos v3? I've tried a few options for Seplos out there but it appears maybe things changed with v3.

Thanks!

I was dealing with Roan and Jeffrey Peeters Roan van Diepenbeek.

It's coming to the crunch now though. I have received the delivery notification and forms to complete from Gerlach who I think operate on behalf of DHL for customs clearance. Not that I appointed them or asked for that.

They are asking for a lot of info I don't know how to supply and have a ridiculous sheet of charges I have to agree to, which will total more than the VAT and duty. So I'm questioning them on that because it seems unreasonable - with using their deferment account could be some ~250.

I currently have a cash CDS account, I did not sign up for a deferment account because it takes 30 days with various financial paperwork with a wavier. Import declarations elsewhere seem to be £15-20 not 75. Does anyone have experience with this part? I had planned to use someone else but this has all happened without me requesting.

The HMRC website is very disjointed for this and appears to offer no way to do an import declaration without using specialist software. The only declaration you can make on HMRC directly is for when you are bringing it with you over the border (https://www.gov.uk/bringing-goods-into-uk-personal-use/declaring-goods). When I called HMRC, they didn't have a clue, and scheduled a call back which I never received.

The whole whole thing seems to be missing a simple route for one-off individual imports.
So they are point blank refusing to ship to UK now. Have a word!

Sorry to say, but a direct consequence of brexit and new rules comming in effect.
I fear you'll find more and more businesses across Europe not shipping to the UK any more in the comming months

Even with an EU VAT number and HMRC customs declaration account? Maybe they didn't like the hassle from sorting it out for Parody!? But most likely the bullshit of Brexit.

It's been all over the news..

I think the 'New Rules' are just the food and plant rules they keep putting off, so shouldn't make any difference to NKON, they haven't shipped to the UK for a while. - Apart from to Parody - I.E. Someone with EU/UK Import paperwork which is a massive hassle.

"The checks make up part of a new post-Brexit border regime, known as Border Target Operating Model (BTOM), which has already been delayed five times."

"This will require European importers to provide health certificates for “medium and high-risk” animal and plant products from 31 January, with physical inspections of these goods due to start at the end of April. Nearly all young plants are considered high risk."

they’re saying its because of dangerous goods rules. As a third country we are going to require more paperwork than EU members. Nothing’s changed for a year or two though

Seems like they shipped to UK for parody in the last month or two.

Well, I'm not sure if there are any other restrictions on importing LFP batteries in your car to the UK, but using the UK Gov calculator I selected 'other' for batteries as importing:
16 x 280k V3 €67 cells at NKON price of €1,072 (£915) = £207.59 import and duty fees = £915+£207 (£1122) or £70 per cell VS Fogstar £119 per cell.. Maybe do a road trip, even paying tax twice it's still cheaper.
