I believe the $44,710 was the TOTAL amount collected so far from 7 backers. The pre-launch prices start at $5,000 and go up to $10,000 depending on the number of extra batteries. That info is lower on the page.
I posted the link only as a FYI. There are basically no technical specs, no mention of UL or any other certifications or grid-tie, sell back or any other features. Based on the total lack of useful information I have no idea how they already had 7 takers.
