    House burned down

And it is going back, having to depend on an android app is causing difficulties. It won't work with my 3 year old phone. Ordering a different one.

Bone dry decomposed granite.... the only way my wife got a garden was by me bringing in 30+ truckloads of aged horse manuer We live at 9144ft and high humidity is about 40%, is about 20% all winter.

I always used to do that when I lived in Texas ... just dump the dry quickcrete into the hole and water it for a few days, worked fine. Tried that when I moved to Colorado for a mailbox post - a month later it was still dry insde except for the top and sides.

    Swapping out

I like it, looks good. One suggestion - turn the switch so the wires feed from the sides - take the strain off the upper cable or secure it to something. Precharge resistor - only needed when you turn on the system. I had a little 3" cubic plastic box laying around. So I put a NO (normally...

    Solar wiring plan feedback

If you have 2 in series you will need to get an active balance to keep them from drifting apart. The internal resistances are not ever identical even though they are close to several decimal places. So when the charge current comes through the one with lower resistance charges more than the...

    My build thread

Last time I needed this sort of thing done I paid the local kid (18) to run the wheelbarrow and do all the heavy lifting. We agreed on $20 an hour and he was happy to have it. I did give him some extra for saving my back. Was worth every penny.

    House burned down

FLIR 1 pro - wanted the higher resolution and extra mode. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0716ZGL7C/ I just happen to have an old Galaxy A7 in a drawer so I can use it when testing things as the display. Funny they still call it FLIR (Forward looking Infrared) - Seems like calling it a...

    House burned down

Got a new toy to measure temps with -- waiting on an arm to hold the thing steady on my work bench. Then I will test some fuse resistances before and while current is running through them. The heatgun is the hot spot at the top, that is a MRBF fuse (3), the lug connected to the battery (1) ...

Very low mains voltage with hybrid inverter. Would it work to correct it?

Would an easy-start type device help with that?

    Unintended ground rod

Just to get straight in my head - Assume a shed with metal roof 100ft from house with solar panels on it. Shed structure is wood - I would run a EGC from the hose and connect the roof and panel frames to it so everything is the same potential. Same shed, but with metal frame sunk into the...

    TCT & MPPT

One other dumb thought - the corroded MC4 you cut off, is it possible the corrosion extended up the wire into the sheath? It would cause a small drop that might show on a thermal camera. You could also check it with a watt meter connected between the cables to see if it is the same as the...

    Unintended ground rod

Do you mean it should be connected to the main ground rod as a second connection? I.E. just another clamp around the rod with the wire from the roof attached? Different but similar question - my telco when they put in the network interface box put a short rod 6 inches away from the main...

    My build thread

Question from someone not in construction - but I see the rebar down in the hole and then I see threaded rods sticking out of the concrete. Are they tied together? or how are the threaded parts attached? Seems like one picture shows smooth concrete with only a couple inches to spare to set...

    grunfos cu200

If you take a wider angle on your picture - i.e. step back or zoom less so all wires are visible it will help. If you are comfortable take the covers off or open up the items that are wired up and take another picture. The purpose is to see where and how the wires route and what they are...
