PowerPro Battery Died Suddenly

This is what I got when I sent my return back. It was not insured; I had a sick stomach until I got the received confirmation. LOL Because no telling what happen if they don't receive the item.

Because the returning units are so large, we will have to schedule a freight carrier to retrieve the units versus simply issuing a return label. In order for a carrier to approve a pick-up, we must ensure that the package is properly strapped to a pallet. I am going to provide some instructions for executing this return:

1. Please use an appropriate-sized pallet, if possible. If you do not have one on hand, they can be found locally at various locations.

2. Place the unit back into the original packaging, or into a new cardboard box, covering the entire unit.

3. Please place the unit in the center of the pallet.

4. Please use some type of nylon rope or ratchet strap to strap the unit down to the pallet.

5. Please also ensure that the straps are only attached to the top board of the pallet. This is so that the forklift forks do not snap the rope.

6. Strap the unit with the rope in a crisscross pattern. 2 ropes in one direction, 2 crossing over.

7. Please ensure that they are tight to the pallet (it must be extremely tight).

8. Once this is all complete, use the link below to fill out our LTL request form. This form will give us detailed information about the location of the pickup. Also, a photo of the freight properly strapped to the pallet will be required as the carrier will need to approve it. Once I have received the completed LTL form, I will reach out with instructions for the remainder of the LTL process.
This is completely ridiculous. At $4k, this is not the service anyone would expect. I have no way to get a pallet, a huge box, and shipping supplies.

Nothing has come off. Everything is secured tight.

Inside, I meant.

The inverters I've opened up have ribbon cables to display and between other boards.
Battery could be similar.

But for stationary equipment, seems less likely. Rather, hardware failure.

Thank you for being a Beta tester for the rest of us. When I heard PowerPro was talking to Sunny Island it piqued my interest.

My Lowe’s lets me get any pallet except the blue ones. But you will have to screw the battery to the pallet. I would not trust only the straps because it so heavy. And it feel like they are putting the liability on you if the battery is not secure. I would get a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and screw it to the pallet, then mount the battery to the plywood.

I have no shipping skills and am fearful someone could be hurt if shipped back the wrong way. Signature Solar should ship a new battery first then let me use the pallet to ship the defective one back. @SignatureSolarJess

I’d say the jury is still out on SI, unfortunately

I just want to know how an end user is supposed to box up a 350lb battery.
Let alone acquire a robust pallet and securement

nearly any pallet will work. I ship 350# things on pallets all day and I have seen some down right horrible strapping. Most of which arrived in tact.
The worst thing that repeatedly happens is getting stabbed with forks. No pallet or strapping will save you from that.

I think the solution is to ship the replacement, and customer uses the pallet and shipping box to return the defective unit. Take a credit card hold incase the customer doesn't return the defective unit.

I think that the input is clear, the OP needs a replacement and a pallet. The pallet that the new one comes with just happens to be exactly perfect for returning the defective one that is under warranty.

The hassle of replacing a few month old unit is bad enough, why add insult to injury and make him procure his own shipping supplies, wait forever for SS to recieve it, then wait yet again for a replacement to show up?

I think that the product is a very promising format and I am very interested in such a product, but not if I as the customer will be made to jump through unreasonable hoops to get a replacement.

A battery may just be a hobby toy for some, but it is a matter of serious concern for off grid users. Can you imagine telling a customer in the mountains during winter to wait 2-4 weeks to get their power system back online?

SS is basically saying, "Give us what we want first, then we will give you what you are owed."

Can SS not just charge the CC of the op if he never sends the failed one? That is common practice also.

If I have to purchase 2 to feel that my power system can realistically be trusted, I will not ever be interested in purchasing any.
Dealing with problems early on goes a long way to promote sales and confidence. The outcome of these types of transactions sways myself and many others.

Thanks for advocating everyone! @SignatureSolarJess was able to get an exception granted for me. I am getting an advance replacement.

I will keep everyone updated on the process.
Also, to keep everyone in the loop for what EG4 is doing with this battery. We have spoken with Signature Solar and they are shipping this straight over so that we can get our battery QA to take a look at it. This is a bit of an odd situation, so to make sure that our distributors and our teams have an idea as to what has happened to a battery that displays this behavior, we are doing what we can to collect that data and inform them with how those situations will need to be handled.

I think my bms just died. I do see that signature solar made him get shipping supplies and a pallet. I will not be doing that, it has been deemed defective by signature solar after 5 months of use.

They need to send me a new battery first, then I will use the pallet and box to ship the faulty one. That is standard practice.

My inverter is on lead acid mode. Battery does charge and discharge at least. But the percentage is not accurate.
It appears siggy sol is giving you pretty good treatment in here… Us Sungold boys deal with some ReAL drama

Good plan!
