BMS colour coding. Black is the new Red?

Sadly I discovered that colour coding ain't universal.
Especially NOT when it comes to BMS.

My previous order for BMS told me "no stock" after 3 weeks...
I ordered new BMS from China
Not $72, but $ 120.
Quality costs money :)

Anyways, that one is on a slow boat towards Thailand.

My batteries arrived and I like to use them!

In Thailand we have "Lazada" a spin-off from AliExpress with also local sellers. (And local stock)
I searched for a seller who have BMS in Thailand, to have it quickly.

Not even $10.. probably not the best quality but if it works for a few weeks.. great!

It arrived after a few days, and I tried to connect.

Hmm. 14 red wires?
That is changing to connect 16 batteries.

In several videos from Will and others I've seen BMS need external power.
Some only for booting, some always.

Having a red and black lead made sense that way...

Boy was I WRONG!!!

Black does NOT always is negative wire.
Especially NOT with BMS.

Sadly it came without manual to explain this.
The picture on the BMS show black is negative...
The first black...

Not always thrust colour.
Not with cheap BMS.

Apparently, the black is the 15th positive (red) wire, and the next red the 16th.

Probably having 2 lead wire red was more expensive??

With "only" +/- 10 days waiting left for the real BMS to arrive, I won't buy a new one.
(That would take also 3 to 5 days)

Just to share this experience.

Colour coding sometimes don't have to be colour coding!!
If I may ask, you are one of two persons on the forum who has either moved to Thailand, or is thinking abound it. Is Thailand a particularly good place to relocate to for any particular reason(s)?

Yes, you may ask.
Particularly good place as my wife live here.
That's also the reason...

I used to live in Netherlands, filling my days with small scale sales of Chinese crap, internet, mining...
The last one was the biggest, having +200 GPU cards working 24/7 and consuming +18kw per hour..
(*Filling my days... Due to medical "complication" I'm no longer in any job, constant nerve pain isn't a problem with morphine, but it still costs loads of energy, and the morphine messes up your concentration. Doing my things in my timeframe works, and I get many things done, only never know when... Things that used to take hours take weeks now, sometimes months before completing)

That 80 grand is no longer, or the 15 I could pay to the electricity company..

Bitcoin stuff is nice, but it needs 99% of your time to make (real) money...

I met my wife on Thai Cupid, dating site, and decided to go there to meet her.

financial not the best step.
when your mind is occupied with love....

anyways..
we are married and I moved to live with her, her parents, sister, brother in law, her daughter (now also "my" daughter)
2 nephews, + 20 dogs and 16 cats, 2 ?, hundred of chicken..
and...
no grid ;-)

but more happy then ever.

For the rest....
I don't have issues with musquitos, that's important as there are a LOT!

Days above 38 degree Celsius, my brain turns into Jello.
Lucky I have air-conditioning now.

Politics is a no go.
Respect elders, tradition and religion.
Most of all respect life.
Be friendly, smile a lot.
And be aware that everything in Thailand takes a lot of time, if possible at all.
Authorities are Authorities. big A.
Their way or no way.
Don't count on privacy or any non sense like that. Do as they ask, and there are no problems.

Bribes is normal, normal way of business.

As long as you don't make a fuzz about it, shut up and mind your own...

Thailand is a great country!
And that is honest opinion, great country.

I don't mind politics. My life is happier without it.
I always respected religion, elderly people and (mostly) authority.
Give some extra money to get things done fast is actually a good thing.
In Netherlands there are so many rules and regulations....
Pfff.
You can even decide what colour you want to paint your house!!
(New house need to stay 10 years in he colour the architect decided)

Thailand is more flexible.

I just build my (straw bale) house.
I'm architect, and no one bother.
Can make any size or colour I want.

In Netherlands I could not even build with straw if I want to, as my house would be too cheap!(??)
(Plots on the side build for 300, my range is 250-350. Not more, not less)
So many rules......

So, I like Thailand!
My family is great, except the sister.
She is always nagging.
I love the outdoors, animals and having small farm.

Ja liefde, lieve liefde is a very strong motivator indeed!
At least you have cats? for comfort and off grid power systems to create and maintain!
Beste wensen, OG. ?

What no politics? In the USSA, over the past fifty years politics has become a HUGE source of entertainment and government has become a huge expense and source of employement at the local, state and Federali levels. I guess something was needed to replace the millions, upon millions, upon millions of modestly but adequately compensating, tax revenue generating jobs that have completely disappeared.
Talk about government rules, & regulations we the government raised people LOVE EM, we want to be Finland, or Greece, anyplace where we can pay omnipotent government to run our lives for us, just ask government teacher down at the public school indoctrination monoply, she'll tell you all about it!

You might be able in Greece to pay of government things...
In Scandinavia or (most) part of northern Europe...
You go straight to jail for even trying...

Unless you play with the millions..
Then it is business as usual. Lol.

South Europe, the old "communist" counties...
Money talks.
A friend of mine who's grandparents live in Romania..
In the hospital, to get morphine when you have severe pain....
First pay the doctor a few hundred euro. (Not registered)
Otherwise... No morphine....
Romanians know...
They do have the money on them if they need to go to hospital...

But it isn't different in Bulgaria, Hungary, or Thailand for that matter.

If you have problems with the government here (Thailand), you get a sweet warning (some bruises) or...
A few years in jail normal fix it.
Or...

So...
I love my free life and have no problems what so ever with government :)

Smile and wave....
Smile and wave...
