The first time I've seen the "charging" LED come on

We've had our off grid 12 volt system for over ten years. It consists of solar panels, wind turbine, and a homemade generator that uses a propane Honda engine hooked to a 200 AMP diesel truck alternator to charge the batteries.

Recently we bought a 2nd propane generator to use as a backup, but this one puts out AC power. It's designed to provide for any loads in our home, and throw the excess electricity into the battery bank via the Outback Power inverter/charger. Everything seems to be working fine.....except...

For the first time ever I now see the "charging" LED on our meter when this new generator is running. Any idea why this light doesn't come on when our homemade 12 volt generator is running? Seems odd.

Thanks!

With the Trimetric the charge LED will flicker if it sees the battery as already charged. You get the solid bright when it sees the battery as not charged.
