After three months, I’ve received my order. Will update here to show the progression.
-(6) Apexium 280ah enclosures
-(96) Grade A 280ah Eve cells
-active balancing added
(working on pictures, have to resize them all for the forum)
Starting a 50 panel install for a friend in South Carolina. Will update as we progress through. Install is facing due south and it was designed to be able to tilt to different angles. We are using an 18k inverter from EG4, running about 350ft. I increased the required wire size to 8awg and...
I am an engineer, but I did not do wind load into the calculations. I didn’t even calculate much beyond strength of materials x150%.
They are 6x6 posts, concreted in HD psi.
I do believe I’m going to put a few hurricane straps on the downslope as well, just to keep pressure off the fulcrum.
Installed my first 6kxp yesterday replacing two 6500ex.
Few things:
Much quieter. This is huge since I installed in my garage and am constantly working (re: tinkering) out there.
Standard screws, the size needed, typically have larger heads that can be accommodated with the holes in the...
Work smarter, not harder. I did not have fancy tractors to help with mine. Had to manually lift each one. I'm a systems engineer, not necessarily cut out for some of the hard labor roof work at 100F.
Well thank you for the advice. I'm newer to the solar world, but have learned a ton since starting. Installed the system myself.
I have some more panels to install and looking forward to getting the remainder of them installed.
AC input should never output AC.
Signature Solar came through great. They RMA’ed the unit and they have agreed to credit my account and exchange for the 6000xp and will accept my
Other 6500ex back for credit on another 6000xp.
Thanks Jarrett and Chris.
Just wanted to share I found a cheap product to help with those that are getting power back from the micro-usb to the Solar Assistant. While it hasn't damaged the unit through the USB port it prohibits the unit from rebooting should it lose power for any reason. It's plugged into a circuit...
Maybe I did not explain it correctly.
2S2P.... so about 300v per "side" and paralleled before the MPPT. I have this setup now.
But I still want to understand the power optimizers and if they will help here.
@sunshine_eggo / @Adam De Lay
Thank you for the input today. Changing the inverter form to utilize batteries when not at 100% was the problem. After changing, I've generated over 23kwh of solar today so far and even at 6:30pm on the east coast, producing 2200w still. I'm impressed.
The picture was taken before it was completed. The temperature sensors are installed. And also it was torqued correctly. as correct as my Chinese torque wrenches, is anyway.
I can tell you my experience.
They did take my 6500ex’s back and exchange at full value for the 6000xp’s. One of my 6500ex units had a malfunction. I did not want to accept a refurbished unit so they provided store credit for the 6000xp. Once the 6000xp arrived, I installed and shipped back...
EG4 6500ex with two EG4 48v 100ah LiFePo4 batteries will be delivered in three days. Just installed the first sheet of concrete board with a 10 circuit “solar” sub panel. Have received two pallets of panels from SanTan but haven’t installed them yet. It’s on the agenda.
All 10 circuits have...
Decent sized 21kw system we are currently installing in a buddies home. Generac installed and setup for a second 18kpv if needed.
Panels are halfway mounted on separate garage 100’ away. Waiting on brackets to install another 10kw.
When I was researching why my Solar Assistant wasn't communicating properly, I was told the same thing that I should use Watch Power and not a third party solution as it will void the warranty. We all didn't talk to the same guy. This was a talking point at one time that seems like they are...
Well, it appears you were correct. When I changed the mode, now I'm getting about 3000w from solar on the 16 panels. Max appears to be 4000w, is 3000-3100 reasonable? Of course there are factors, but its primarily faced due south at a pretty decent angle (not sure the exactly angle).
No, it still works after joining your local connection. I'm planning to get on the phone with SS support tomorrow to at least raise the flag. Security risk all over the place with that thing. Great inverter, not so great WiFi implementation.
Thanks for the comments.
Wooden structure is fine. The panels she bought were used panels. I’m not sure anything when it comes to land mounted anything is designed to stay in one location for 20 years (even if intended). I do not foresee the panels staying where they are for 20+ years, if so...
I ordered four of these as part of a larger order from DOCAN. I believe I pay about $450 per case, but did purchase 64 class A cells with it (280ah). They have another week or two before they arrive. Ordered two months ago.
ALT E Store was outrageous with shipping. It was $750. I ended up going with the suggestion above, Renvu. It was $110 freight shipping for everything IronRidge.
Eh, I don't know if it's the same, but I'm not able to find a working interface for the config tools. I have connected directly to the AP (provides a 10.10.10.x/24) with a 10.0.10.1 gateway. Tried to connect t o 10.0.10.1, no luck. tried https:// no luck. Completed a port scan and found...
I was hoping they were the same. I have an 18k sitting here in the box but haven't opened it. I don't think there is an interface page. Hopefully Signature Solar will figure that out.
Anything *not* from AliExpress will probably work just fine.
Amazon has been a winner for me. Just read the reviews and you’ll know what to steer clear from.
I actually talked to SA yesterday about this very thing. EG4 SCC doesn’t have a method to communicate, so even if SA supported it, it wouldn’t “talk”. The USB port can be used to communicate with your batteries but according to Signature Soler, the SCC with fight the output of the inverter and...
