Wire too big for inverter PV connection

Agreed. I just now was informed that the panel order has 12x instead of 6x. So that puts me in the ballpark now of 445v@27.58a (6S2P) if I want it to meet the CC requirements. Still doing the run at 100'. With that being said and at a 10% loss, are we saying that running 6awg would be...

Wire too big for inverter PV connection

I'm actually looking at the current (amps) aspect. That is more critical and the biggest cause for resistance, heat, and degradation of wires over time.

Wire too big for inverter PV connection

According to many of the charts, even at a 10% loss, 100ft@15amps dc shouldn't be ran on anything smaller than 8AWG and that's leaving no room for growth. Can you help me understand how your coming up with your #'s?

Wire too big for inverter PV connection

How does one handle properly wiring large gauge PV wire to an CC that has smaller connections? Scenario : 6x Panels @ 37.07v/13.79a Distance from Panels to CC: 100ft EG4 6000EX : PV Connection unspecified (assuming <= 8AWG) * Not provided in the manual At this distance, running 15a at 100'...

Is this normal for SOK Rack batteries?

Will hook my Victron 100/20 to it in the morning and see what happens.

Is this normal for SOK Rack batteries?

This is the new budget SOK without a display. It says it has Bluetooth but when I scan I see nothing.

But is this normal to come out of the box at this voltage?

Is this normal for SOK Rack batteries?

Just picked up 2 SK48V100NC batteries from SOK and upon mounting and precharging, the voltage is 40v out of the box. Isn't this a little low for new lifepo4 batteries?

    Why isn't a 48v to 12v system optimal?

As mentioned, Most readily available components on the inverter side that can be more budget friendly. 48v is ideal I agree in an ideal world, where everyone has access to 48v inverters down the road to pickup when one goes out, able to order online, or a physical delivery address, but there are...

    Why isn't a 48v to 12v system optimal?

I'm trying to understand why configuring a system to take advantage of the optimal output and availability of equipment and power isn't talked about very much. I do understand that finances are a challenge in some cases along with the need for split phase but there is a happy medium that has a...

Anybody have experience with the eg4 8K?

I'm looking to do an off-grid installation that requires a split phase setup and have been looking at the eg4 8K all-in-one charge controller. In Wills videos I believe he said that it seems to work fine in off grid mode but it's the on-grid features that are an issue. I'm wondering if anyone...

Unable to use wifi on second hand lv6548?

Has anyone encountered this issue and how did they resolve it? I recently purchased a lv6548 second hand. When I go to register an account for wifi connectivity it tells me I cannot because the device is already registered.

    Is lv6548 docs wrong?

I'm setting up a lv6548 and noticed in the docs (attached) that it's recommended detailed example provided would exceed the max voltage rating in a 6S configuration when temps dip below 50°F. Am I wrong or misunderstanding something here? Taking temperature coefficient into consideration I...

Looking for 48v psw inverter recommendations under $900

I'm offgrid, it will be used for powering my homestead and well pump. I was using the 3000w for everything but this past winter was intense and pushed it with the use of electric heating. I plan to install the well pump later this summer. Split phase would be nice but I can go either way with...

Looking for 48v psw inverter recommendations under $900

I kept pushing the old inverter at the 3000w, as mentioned I would definitely feel better about being closer to 5000 if possible. Is aims a decent inverter? I found this one that's 5000w that I might be able to swing, or do you still think these sigineer's would be a better call. AIMS Power...

Looking for 48v psw inverter recommendations under $900

My system is 48v so that might be a good fit. With my budget being at $900 I'm thinking the Growatt 6kw SPF 6000T DVM. I'm pretty sure Will has given good reviews on the Growatt brand.

Looking for 48v psw inverter recommendations under $900

It's been a out 4 months now since my 3000w wzrelb inverter blew up and think I finally have enough in the budget to replace it. I did use the 3000w so 5000 would be a better fit if possible. Any recommendations would be great. I even noticed a refurbished growatt 6000 that was about $900. The...

Anyone heard of this buck converter?

After coming across this particular one that supports 2500w bidirectional it made me wonder if with all that power supported by it why wouldn't it be a good candidate for an emergency 12v inverter. And the bidirectional really sounds great!

Anyone heard of this buck converter?

Resources that you can find like 12v inverters, automotive relays, lights, etc. If my 48v inverters die and I need to be able to keep things running like fridge, deep freeze, etc I can go down the street and buy a 12v inverter and I'm back in business

Anyone heard of this buck converter?

Was thinking about adding a large buck converter to add redundancy in the case where the 48v inverter fails and my only option is local 12v resources. I came across this beast of a converter and was curious what other's thought about it. Tian Power DCDC 175A 2500W 48V to 12V Buck Converter and...

Cutting it close but hoping it will work (2 panels and Victron 100/20)

Understood and thx for reminding me :) At any point whether its 2 or 20 panels, as long as my array voltage doesn't exceed the maximum rated voltage of the CC I can over panel to compensate for seasonal variations in power production.

Cutting it close but hoping it will work (2 panels and Victron 100/20)

Thanks for the push to work through my numbers. If I do the 2 panels in series then the result will be 97.22v@10.66a with a max nominal output of 1098w. This is all under the maximum cold weather conditions I can expect from the panels. So it will work just fine and be a good pair. I guess I...

Cutting it close but hoping it will work (2 panels and Victron 100/20)

I ran the numbers to calculate the max output from the 2 panels i have and would like to pair with a SmartSolar 100/20 (48v config). I chased down the coldest day recorded in history for my area (hit these temps twice a long long time ago) and it put me at the the max output of...

Need PnP AIO suggestions that play well with SmartSolar CC's

Sorry for using improper description of what I'm looking for. In the context of battery banks and a background of building my own, I am looking for a battery bank that is 48v and already put together in an enclosure with BMS as a minimum. Something I can simply connect the positive and negative...

Need PnP AIO suggestions that play well with SmartSolar CC's

Have a modular build I am doing for a client. In my past projects I've built my lifepo4 batteries but it appears that there are some options out there that really compete with the cost of the DIY build. I am looking for suggestions/recommendations for pre built battery banks that play well with...

Need to Parallel 10 Deep Cycle Batteries

So I was reading that aluminum can be used as bus bars. And I just so happened to have 2 that are 1/4" (6mm) x 1 1/4" (31mm) that are long enough for all batteries. Don't know if they would work but if so all I would have to do is drill holes for the threads of each battery to pass through and I...

Need to Parallel 10 Deep Cycle Batteries

That's how I originally had thought but what threw me off was a more recent article at windynation about how that is still not truly balanced usage of the batteries. There section labeled "Perfectly Balanced Charging" made me think there might a better way.
