  • Post in thread: 24 or 12v for fridge running on inverter...

24v Great Idea. Higher voltage inverters tend to be more efficient and produce less heat. I think it would be cheaper and more efficient to have 1 300Ah bank if your batteries could be configured that way. This way you have one SCC and 1 battery you can still run all 300 watts of panels to...
  • Post in thread: powering a chest freezer

Those should be fine. One tip i do though is I stock my freezer with about 3 gallons of water that turns to ice for thermal mass to keep the freezer cold when opened. I also have a switch set to turn the freezer off at night so as to save energy and use less battery power. My freezer only runs...
  • Post in thread: Would you pay a $700 for 4 tested 280Ah lifePo4 cells that could be delivered to CONUS within 1 week?

Cells have arrived! I will start testing tonight and hopefully have some ready to ship by weeks end.
  • Post in thread: SSR testing

Shutting off the AC draw us another option. After I test the new SSR I want to make a post on the various ways to use Chargery and interface with SCC and inverters.
  • Post in thread: LTO SCiB battery bank for off-grid

I use LTO exclusively on my two systems and have no problems at all with the voltages. I use a midnite solar charge controller no issues with the voltage range. I also use a Samlex EVO inverter on one system and a Reliable energy inverter on the other system. The samlex can be programmed...
  • Post in thread: SSR testing

UPDATE. I have placed 180 Amp loads for 15-20 minutes on the 500A SSR the relay itself with the heatsink performs well. The Terminals do not! The screws heat up to about 180F after 15 minutes. The relay itself stays well under 100F The manufacturer is making me some new ones with larger...
  • Post in thread: Which is safer Circuit Breaker or Fuse?

I use breakers everywhere backed up by fuses. A 40 amp breaker gets a 50A fuse for example
  • Post in thread: DIY Busbar

I use 1/4 inch 6061 aluminum bought at a local metal yard cut it with a carbide tipped blade and my chop saw. Drill it with a standard metal drill bit. I have absolutely no corrosion or any other problems nuts and studs are as clean as the day i installed them a year ago well at least they...
  • Post in thread: Increasing a battery bank capacity

actually I think eating them in parallel would be even better
  • Post in thread: Connecting solar panels

Yes this is quite fine.and would probably give you highest output.
  • Post in thread: Off grid refrigeration

Yes there are losses but for the price difference you can add probably 1000 watts of panels or more. that will way surpass any loses.
  • Post in thread: Off grid refrigeration

I used to be totally worried about conversion losses do not get me wrong but living with the stuff in the real world for 3 years (all be it part time) I have come to realize they really are not that bad and can easily be overcome with more panels and more battery. Consider $300.00 for a...
  • Post in thread: SSR testing

With the heatsink but no heat paste. The mfg did tell me to add heat paste but I wanted to see if it made a difference. This also shows how I attached the cables.
  • Post in thread: To BMS or not to BMS?

How about this Craigism "To BMS so as not to be a mess!"
  • Post in thread: Calibrating Voltage of your system to ensure Optimal Operations. SCC, Inverter/Charger, voltage matching.

Actually it would be really interesting to see how things change over time. I think Im gonna put a log book in my solar closet and write these numbers down periodically. Great post!!
  • Post in thread: DIY Busbar

I had to drill 10 holes in 11 seperate buss bars. I used a Jig for everything but still found I had to enlarge a few holes. Next time I will just use a larger bit to begin with. There is really no need to be so tight.
  • Post in thread: I bought this jumpstarter/air compressor, should I return it?

Yes or the handle from a paint bucket. I once started my truck with an 18 volt drill battery and 2 metal paint bucket handles.
  • Post in thread: SSR testing

No these are Chinese relays I have ordered samples from 2 manufacturers. After i make proper tests and know more about what I am doing I have about 10 more manufacturers to check out. At what price range would you all find acceptable for a SSR vs a regular relay like chargery sells. I was...
  • Post in thread: Looking for resources to learn about general electronics, electricity, & and circuitry

Maybe we could get a DIY solar study group going. I will look tonight all those look interesting.
  • Post in thread: 6S3P 120ah LTO Build

That's not a LTO bank this is. ??
  • Post in thread: Video explaining my problem with my install

The voltages are different because the BMS is shutting down after the CAPS have incrementally charged. It is not giving enough energy to charge the CAPS all at once. By switching on and off it is slowly charging caps until they are full then the unit works as it should. I say BMS but the...
  • Post in thread: Not getting full power out of pannels

You will never get full potential of your panels with one 100 Amp SCC you need either higher Volts or 2 SCC
  • Post in thread: Whats the official name of these connectors???

    Invisible!
  • Post in thread: Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review

Honestly I think they are all just wholesalers of the same battery
  • Post in thread: Free Power???

The funny thing is when I was in the 5th grade I tried to create the exact same thing. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. Till I was told if I could get it to work I would be richest man in the world. I'm still not rich lol
  • Post in thread: Video explaining my problem with my install

I just hope he returns here before he sends MPP back. He never really seemed to listen to us. Seems like he came to his own conclusions and proceeded from there. Only hearing the replies that bolstered his theory.
  • Post in thread: Video explaining my problem with my install

He was on the forum last night. No responses. I had even private messages him with no response. I'm starting to think the whole thing was a "Rick Roll Or dare I say Randerson Roll
  • Post in thread: Chargery: AH measurements

This is unfortunate that it is not 100% accurate but I guess if you want complete accuracy you need to pay much more for a batrium or other high end expensive device. I'm not sure if bad information is better or worse than having a Daly BMS with no information. maybe someday soon...
  • Post in thread: Is there a common operational definition of "charge cycle"

It seems that any time you discharge and then recharge the battery you are "creating a cycle" but discharging less allows you many more cycles.
