I made a tilt mount for my front box. Ive never seen anyone do this. Hell Ive never seen anyone with a front hitch for a box. But my old chevy campervan came with it. So I got a funky shaped hightop that doesnt allow for more than 2 panels and I got tired of lugging my 160w in and out. I came up...
No offense but the BBB is a private for profit review company and frankly a scam themselves. Filing a complaint with them against amazon mean absolutely nothing. Now the federal trade commision or something might mean a tiny amount.
This forum has been great. A few head butts when I first joined but thats not too bad. The WORST attitude a place can take is "this is my forum love it or leave it" where challenging, politely, the resident "experts" (egomaniacs) gets you in the crosshairs.
You dont know from one day to the next...
Im at the point I feel like a crusader on this subject. Bare in mind my experience is usually with apartment units.
As I just replied to a person who was about to buy a $1.5k 12v upright...15-20 years ago solar was $4-5+ a watt. Pure sinewave inverters were not common and very expensive. A 1kw...
Defending FLA is like stockholm syndrome from a psychotic girlfriend. What do you mean 5 fits of crying and rage a day isnt normal? At least she isnt boring. Shes a starter girlfriend! ?
If you dont know how to start the boiler on your steam car, you have no business getting a gasoline engine. Youre talking about a 1000 explosions a minute.
I use what was at walmart and would fit in my van. Its haier brand. It pulls 4.2a measured at battery and runs about 5 min per cycle. Ive had it since 2017 fulltiming in the van on very rough terrain.
Almost every drop in battery manufacturer recommends at least 3.6v per cell. And most 3.65v. @Fred S is right, its practically useless. You need a shunt monitor. Charge to 3.65v then set monitor to 100%.
Then we can get to the bottom of battery capacity.
Heres what doesnt get talked about nearly enough despite being hands down the #1 problem in all solar with lead batteries.
(Dod/100) x (ah/c) + 3 ab x 1.25
.1 x 40 x 3 x 1.25 = 8.75hrs to fill new batteries from 90-100% @ ~100w/5A actual. Even if you optimize everything you might see 10a =...
I would add, if youre asking, that the ones NMW linked and my 150A are just plain better anyway because they use a post instead of a set screw. Though Im sure theyre breaker part is from same factory with same parts internally.
You can use privacy.com and create a one time use virtual credit card. Its pretty awesome and free.
I also refuse to use PayPal personally. I had a $3k scam through my paypal account once and had a pretty rough time getting it back and dealing with the situation. In fact my bank had to step in...
Its a dc-dc charger for a reason. It takes lower voltages and ramps it up. And a charge controller takes higher voltages and lowers them.
Your alternator only outputs 14.4v before you run 10ft of wiring. Theres not enough voltage to charge. You can power an inverter and a dc power supply at...
Well no lithium isnt for recreational solar systems. Its for 24/7/365 solar systems. All the disparity in chemistries lay in the issues of charging lead batteries to 100% every day.
I dont undetstand what you all are talking about and dragging this on. 30% inefficiency in summer is utterly normal. 400w of panels producing 250w in washington in febuary is NORMAL. Should be about 16A.
Whats your opinion of that forum? I signed up there back in like 2011 and check in periodically. The place has a bunch of info but I have subsequently found so much of it questionable at the least. Especially once I went full time. Extremely resistant to facts or new info and quick to delete...
Well first thing is go ahead and plan on new batteries. One of the possibilities might be grid corrosion and/or sulfation. We would need pics to see the wiring too. Asymmetry in the wiring might cause excess resistance.
Another reason might be cell shorting. AGM are notorious for that...
I can't see a reason to get another. Will did a video with battleborn engineer a few months ago and he dispelled a few myths. 1 was cold temps and charge rates are a sliding scale not a hard number. The other was charging to 100% hurts lifepo4. He said if I remember right theu havent seen any...
Buy the cheapest panels with decent reviews. Note that people leave bad reviews because they think a 100w panel should put out 100w most of the time. Ignore those.
Yeah this aint like other forums. We are strictly fact driven not ego... or really try to be. The reason anyone tells you different is in case you dont know. Spittballing. Dont worry about offending or being offended.
