EG4 18kPV Q+A general thread

Mine says "no limitation"....and I didn't change it to that so I'm assuming that's default?
the max ac input is the max power that the inverter will pull from the grid without tripping the grid input breaker. For example if the grid input breaker is 125A*80%=100A*240=24kw.
if you use 200A leave it as default no limitation or 6553.5.

So what would it be set to for a grid input breaker of 40 Amps. 6553.5/200A = 32.7675 X 40 = 1310.7? thanks

The thing that was throwing me off was "Max. AC Input Power(KW)" Kilowatt. My default setting of 900. So 900 should be 900,000 watts.

Another update:

Lots of goods for us AC coupled folks. Not sure what they mean, but I've been running it all day and so far so good.

FAAB-1A1A

2024-04-22

  • Same as fAAB-1A1A, changes based on the FAAB-1919.
  • 1.Add 2 minutes of Warmup to the generator microgrid mode.
  • 2. Add split phase voltage overvoltage and undervoltage protection for US models.
  • 3. Improvement, keep off-grid state when countdown to connect to on-grid mode.At the end of the countdown, it will quickly switch from off grid to on-grid mode.
  • 4. Improve load calculation in three-phase parallel and on-grid mode.
  • 5. Fix the issue of using Grid AC to charge even when SOC/Volt reaches Stop AC Charge SOC/Volt when AC Couple and AC Charge are enabled.
  • 6. Optimize AC Couple power display.
  • 7. Fix the issue of the original AC Couple power not being able to reset to zero when the AC Couple is disconnected from the grid and there is no grid power.
  • 8. Update PR-LUMA grid regulations parameters.
  • 9. Update register information for "Permit Service".
I am glad to see continued updates. As a OFF-GRID user, we tried 1A1A yesterday. Comparing to other updates done on this 18kpv, FAAB-1717 was switched back too, by the end of the day.

"In relation to starting a Quincy QT-5 compressor with updates,"

FAAB-OEOE showed biggest change from factory settings. Some random slight flicker would happen once in a while but took the longest amount of time before time out.

FAAB-1717 update showed to be increase in speed turning compressor motor over, just not long enough before time out. Stable, no flicker, no other issues.

FAAB-1A1A loaded in yesterday, Noticed a slight increase of speed turning over comp motor for a longer duration before time out than 1717. This is probably the most powerful update yet but it showed to make house lights flicker at random, through out the house all pulsating at the same time. LED and incandescent bulbs all together at the same pace. Flip off some circuits/ then back on it would stop but start again, even after reset. Switched back to FAAB-1717, problem gone. If not for the random pulsating I would have kept this update, but every thing must get along.
There will be more tests here as some thing stronger comes about. I think there getting close to an update for these old school industrial compressors, just not quite there yet.

Select lithium 1 for comms. Make sure your batteries are on the latest firmware. Make sure you either have the new E-WiFi dongle or a 4g dongle or a WLAN dongle. This will work with these 3 dongles only. The original dongles the 18k came with will not work they do not have to ability to transfer this data

I'm still not seeing the additional battery information with my 2x PowerPro's and 18kpv.

Batteries on T17 firmware, 18kpv latest firmware, Lithium 1 selected, and I'm out of ideas on things to try.

Any suggestions?

What’s the new E-WiFi dongle? I’ve got the WiFi dongle my inverters came with and the Ethernet dongles, how do I distinguish between them?

In addition to that confusion, I’d like to use Solar Assistant, but only the WiFi dongle supports the API it uses. 🤷‍♂️

You need the 6000XP type wireless dongle to pass the battery data back to the portal, the currently supplied version with the 18k cannot do it.
Hit up SS, they may be able to help you with a replacement.
And yes, currently SA only reads the wifi IP of a Luxpower dongle.....currently :sneaky:

Is this top portion referring to my post about the battery data not showing up fully? I'll need an updated dongle for the extra info?

Just want to confirm before I bother SS

Which brings up a related question: If I have two 18Kpv inverters in parallel, do I need one or two network dongles? If I can or must use two, can they be different, or must they be identical from the set of available dongles?
