The inverter champions are very efficient. I have 3 dual fuel champions and a Honda and an old Coleman ( gas only) sized for different uses from 1800 to 8500 watts. Unless you’re totally certain you will never need more than about 900 - 1000 watts ( 80%load ) I would certainly consider a little larger unit…they will be more versatile and have more surge capability.
There will be other things you will want to run that 1200 won’t handle well . The extra propane use is minimal…( I don’t use gas at all anymore)
unless you’re really pushing them you will generally be in Eco Mode anyway which is going to run them at lower output to fit the load your using .

my favorite is the 3500 .. great lil gen set with electric start..wheels and a folding handle.
