Your right, bro, and please don't call me names.
Jarrett is a solid dude. Really nice guy and even sent me a thumb drive, personally, to get the latest firmware going as I couldn't get the goddamn original dongle to work to save my life. He also sent a different dongle and it worked with little...
This is my weakest area of knowledge BY FAR. I'm barely at 101. Honestly, I couldn't care less about electricity. I llove the possibility of being off grid and having the means to produce will be even more important as time goes on. Flipped 3 houses, rewired the engine bay of my supercharged suv...
I've never gotten a response like that. I was/am in communication with a tech there who said they're waiting on them, but then he said the communication cables should've come with the batteries, so I think he got off the topic of exactly what cable we're talking about. I've got enough going on...
I am the worst. I bought another senville. the deal was good and I do think senville is towards the top of these mini's. it's almost complete and then the hvac tech that did my 1st mini will do this one early next week. I like the eg4 but cannot justify spending more loot on more panels and...
I didn't think water would extinguish the inverter (as it doesn't work on a grease fire for example) but that it would prevent the surrounding area from catching fire. Apparently it'll make things worse? I see, electrical shock...
Super-cheap solar field in progress. It's at 45.4ish *, perfect for winter. Adjusting down to 30.4* shouldn't be an issue but down to 14* for the summer will probably be a problem as the posts might cast shadows over the panels. Canadian Solar 400w. These panels are supposed to be a bit more...
Waiting on some automotive wire loom to wrap this mini field up. Apparently, rodents like to chew the cable insulation, not because of it's soy content but it's texture. Who knows, and I don't think I'll have issues but just in case. It was inexpensive & easy too install.
I set each panel to a...
Went from a metal manufactured array to a diy unistrut design to something like the picture below but more like the one in the youtube video link.
Finally going to settle on the absolutely cheapest design I can think of.
Panels run horizontally.
Woven ground cover/landscape fabric.
3' long...
AC side will hopefully be started and completed tomorrow.
Inverter is going right here and the batteries in the mudroom on the other side of the wall to the right.
EG4 battery rack will go in this corner. Flat on the floor. No wheels. Conduit through the wall the door is on into the garage...
Thanks for your concern, but I believe it's because I ask questions like this that I should be messing with wires in my house.
I've flipped a few houses and can fix pretty much anything on a house or on a car. I recently installed my own 12k pv/30kwh batt solar power system with help from people...
It's much colder than normal right now. Roughly 0*. I'm looking at the 18kpv and the house is using 2600 watts? Fridge might be using a couple hundred, fireplace fan uses 60 watts, got a couple lights on and charging the battery for the ego blower.
I shut the mini off and checked the use on...
I think this screen will conceal the unit and block it from strong winds. It ties in with the porch skirt. Those concrete blocks are just temp. holding down landscape fabric. I'll paint the treated wood in a few months when it's dried and I added foam insulation to cover the valves then wrapped...
So far a clean and trouble-free install of the EG4 18kpv without all the traditional associated...stuff.
The back of the wall has a bit more going on. Pic's to come for that soon.
Schlepping this f'n wire through is no joke.
The image on the lcd screen looks absolutely nothing like me. Is this...
Always check all the wires. I'll be checking 100% of'em frequently for awhile and then maybe once a season. I think I was the only guy talking about this.
They're set to what the tech from SS had me set them to during commissioning.
These are eg4 lifepower4 batteries.
I called the tech dept today to see what else should be changed because now that the comm hub is goood, I wanted the battery setting on "lithium" whereas due to the hub not being...
Fused disconnect on left, meter in the middle & manual transfer switch on the right. Manual transfer switch and three 12" nipples replace wire trays and excessive conduit.
Batteries and mini-field up next.
Thanks for the feedback DIYrich.
I know it needs a 200a shutoff. It'll be ran as a whole home backup with supply side tap I think.
I'm on the grid, for now.
No. I haven't seen it myself. The wire box I was referring to was the one attached to the inverter. I think he's getting around using a box like that by using the space in the transfer switch box.
Yes, the same thing in that they function the same way, but he's referring to a unit for the entire house like this, which is what I had.

Yes they can. Originally, that's how I planned to mount it. There's sections of the sheet metal that can be punched out on all over the bottom and the back.
The afterthought that is my 2 IMO boxes. If only I could concentrate just on this solar project, It would be done.
Each panel measured a hair under 35 volts and at the disconnect switches each string came in around 350 volts, even with 1/2 of one string in the shade.
The meter, mini field and...
