Baffles me that my Coleman 15k BTU aircon in my RV has 23 startup amps and draws 1650W and my 3T home heat pump (36,000 BTU has 25 startup amps and draws 2000W.

i just moved out of my RV with a 15k coleman and it was amazing how much less power i use in my 1000sq ft barn with a 2 ton mini split. campers are made as cheaply as possible. with terrible and inefficient parts.

RV world is full of garbage. Blows my mind that on a $2,000,000 RV that they use these same garbage AC units and the same garbage noisy vent hood fans....

Is your 3 ton A/C 240volt?
It is, but I collected more data yesterday. RV aircon was 1200W. Home heat pump was 1954W. But I forgot to include the air handler which is 270W. So 1200W vs. 2224W is the fair comparison.

sorry i meant to put 2Ton not 3 lol must have fat fingered that ! and it is 240v and the most i have had it pull was 2000w and my 15k coleman would pull that when it was working hard and didnt put out near as much cold air. that being said the 15k coleman isnt bad for an rv just not near as good as a mini split.

I just finished installing a heat pump mini split on my truck camper and will be pulling the roof air off after I document the difference in power draw with a video. It hasn't been warm enough to get a good test comparison.

It is pretty amazing how little power a heat pump mini split will consume. I've been heating my house and providing all the hot water we need with solar power. The house heat entirely since early to mid February and the hot water since March 1st.
